Thrushes

The flight calls of Blackbird, Fieldfare, Redwing, Ring Ouzel and Song Thrush have all been sound-recorded over various sites in Leicestershire.

Redwing

The most regular thrush species sound-recorded in autumn and winter is the Redwing. It appears in early October and during periods of passage it can generally be recorded nightly until December. Return passage can be less dramatic than during their arrival but good numbers can be recorded at night during March.

Song Thrush

The Song Thrush is recorded less often than the Redwing, but small numbers do migrate at night particularly during autumn.
